2024 Day 3 Recap

JUNIOR GIRLS

Third Round, Game 7

John Oliver 29 – 25 York House 

JO came out looking to push the pace in transition, giving them an early lead. York House stayed calm and looked for their options. JO hit some shots to stretch the lead going into half. The Tigers started sinking their shots and got to the line. York house brought it back, going into the 4th quarter with the Jokers up by 1. Last 8 minutes was a back-and-forth affair, ending with a tie. Two timely shots gave JO the overtime win.

Third Round, Game 8
Point Grey 16 – 36 Crofton

Point Grey started the game with high energy. First quarter ended with the score 4-4. Crofton House demonstrated teamwork and took the lead in the second quarter with #2 Ella Lukomskyj finishing it off with 12-6. Coming back the first half, Crofton House continued to secure the lead with the score of 26-9 in the end of third quarter. With Point Grey #13 Alana Zeng finishing a layup, the team’s momentum went back up. Crofton House was able to maintain their lead which led them to their win, 16-36.

Third Round, Game 9
St. Patrick’s 38 – 37 Kitsilano

Kitsilano starts the game by taking the lead against St. Patrick’s. St. Patrick’s quickly caught up and took the lead with 13-8 in the first quarter. During the second quarter, St. Patrick’s #7 was able to lead the team with her 3 pointers. Kitsilano’s #6 Lara Bisset was able to bring her team back in the game in the third quarter with the score 32-29. St. Patrick’s and Kitsilano were scoring back to back but St. Patrick’s took the lead by one point with the score of 38-37.

SENIOR GIRLS

Third Round, Game 9
Tupper 38 – 26 Kitsilano

Both teams came out with lots of energy despite having an 8:30am start time. The crowd was roaring! In the final round of the tournament, both teams came out ready to play. Tupper looked to push the ball early, but faced Kitsilano’s aggressive defense. Although Kitsilano started the half with an effective full court press, the Tigers were able to move the ball well to break it. It was a physical game on both ends but the Tigers showed composure to finish the game with a win.

York House 34 – 19 John Oliver

The Tigers started the game with a quick lead. The Jokers made a run and cut the lead going into the half but the Tiger’s show of outstanding defense in the second half proved to be too much to handle. Tigers win.
