Consolation Round, Game 5
Britannia 34 – 51 York House
The Britannia Bruins got off to a strong start leading the first quarter 12-5. The York House Tigers charged back and took the lead in the second quarter 25-16. The Tigers were lead by their forward Jordan Wyder scoring a game high of 24 pts. The Tigers maintained the lead and came out with the win over the Bruins.

John Oliver 34 – 39 Killarney
The Killarney Cougars and the John Oliver Jokers were battling head to head throughout the game. By the 3 rd quarter the Cougars and Jokers were tied 24-24. The Cougars were lead by their guard Estalla Hurtado scoring a game high of 18 pts. The game came down to the wire with the Cougars holding on to the lead for the win.

With both teams evenly matched, it was a low scoring game going back and forth. Crofton had the height advantage, however, St. Pat’s pulled ahead within the last 2 minutes and led by 4pts. Crofton nailed a last minute three pointer but fell just short of a very exciting game.

SENIOR GIRLS
Consolation Round, Game 5
Churchill 37 – 60 John Oliver
Day 2 of the VGBA tournament opened with the Churchill Bulldogs facing off with the John Oliver Jokers. The bulldogs came out calm gaining an 11-4 lead in the first half of the quarter. However the Jokers wouldn’t be fazed, and steadily hacked away at the lead, ending the quarter SWC 17- JO 15. The second quarter opened with the teams trading baskets back and forth, and ended with the Jokers slowly pulling to a 31-27 lead. The Jokers came out of halftime strong and with a new found zeal, relentlessly attacking and finished the quarter ahead 49-31. They didn’t let up in the 4th quarter, ending the game JO 60- SWC 37.

Britannia 84 – 40 Notre Dame
It was a very fast paced game right from the start through til the end. However, Britannia’s tenacious and strong full court press dominated the 2nd quarter allowing them to pull ahead. Notre Dame came out strong in the second half but their efforts were not strong enough to stay with Brittania.
