2019 Day 2 Game Summaries

JUNIOR GIRLS

Consolation Round, Game 5
John Oliver 45 – 36 Van Tech

JO opened up a 6 point lead the half and kept it throughout the game. High scorer for JO was Donna Pimental with 21 points. High scorer for Tech was Kadence Wesley with 14. Player of the Game for Tech was Tiff Wu.

Point Grey 43 – 33 Lord Byng

After a tight first quarter that 10 point lead was maintained by Pt. Grey for the rest of the game. High scorer for Pt. Grey was Emma Smith with 16. Ansley Dunbar was high scorer for Lord Byng with 10 points keeping the game close in the second half.

Semifinal, Game 7
York House 55 – 18 Magee

The first semi-final for the day began with tight defense from the Tiger girls.  They rolled in the buckets with a few fast breaks and dish outs making the lead for the first quarter.  By the end, everyone was still hustling and fighting to the basket.  #9 Nadeen came out with some hot shots around the 3 pt line.  York House Tigers came out with the win but the Magee Lions made them work for it.

Semifinal, Game 8
St. Patricks
 34 – 31 Eric Hamber

St. Pat’s came out hitting their shots early while Hamber couldnt buy a hoop and trailed 8-0 after the first quarter. The second quarter was closer but still a low scoring fair as the Celtics led just 13-5 at the half. Things opened up in the second half and Hamber mounted  come back relying on tough defense and the Celtics began to struggle to make their shots. It was a one point game in the 4th quarter but a late 3 was the difference as St Pat’s won 34-31.

SENIOR GIRLS

Consolation Round, Game 5
St. Patrick’s 55 – 34 Churchill

Churchill had a slow start but clawed back in 3rd quarter.  St Pat’s then went on 14 point run to take advantage of Churchill’s foul trouble.

Consolation Round, Game 6
Killarney 66 – 37 York House

The game started with Killarney Cougars winning the tip.  From there, the game progressed with each team fighting to make baskets.  Eventually the Cougars got the lead by first half took out the win for the game.

Semifinal, Game 7
Lord Byng 75 – 55 Notre Dame

It was a fast paced and high intensity game though all 4 quarters. Notre Dame continued to battle while being down majority of the game, however, Lord Byng pulled away in the fourth quarter with great defensive and offensive help from #4 Maggie Mackay.

Semifinal, Game 8
Britannia 69 – 50 John Oliver

Britannia came out with a tough full court press in the first half which gained them a big lead of 44- 20 going in to the 3rd quarter. JO continued to fight with a strong 4th quarter behind great shooting from #5 Janna Jamorabon and #1 Kaila Fong, however it wasn’t enough to bring it close as #7 Surprise Munie finished the game with 33 points.
