2017 – Day 2 Game Summaries

JUNIOR GIRLS

Consolation Round, Game 5
St. Patrick’s 44 – 36 John Oliver

Both teams got off to a slow start, needing to clear out the morning cobwebs. St. Pats came alive and with the help of their full court pressure they built an 11 point lead by half. The Jokers fought hard but couldn’t cut into the lead, but generated some excitement when Jasmina Sawall hit a halfcourt buzzer beater at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Consolation Round, Game 6
Notre Dame 40 – 27 York House

Notre Dame started off strong and jumped out to an early lead, but York House was able to fight back to within 1 at half. With only 6 players York house seemed to run out of steam in the 2nd half and Notre Dame took advantage to pull away.

Semifinal, Game 7
Killarney 52 – 27 Crofton House

Killarney pulled ahead early in the game. They were a big physical presence and kept driving hard to the basket. Crofton kept fighting and answered with good outside shooting, but they were unable to come back.

Semifinal, Game 8
Lord Byng 41 – 27 Churchill

Both teams played hard and aggressive, competing for a spot in the final. Lord Byng brought tough full court pressure that set the tone of the game. Churchill played with grit and tenacity, but couldn’t beat Byng’s strong offensive execution. Lord Byng got the win and will battle Killarney in the Junior Finals tomorrow.

SENIOR GIRLS

Consolation Round, Game 5
York House 65 – 22 Magee

The Tigers raced out to a 21-5 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Playing against an aggressive defense, the Lions’ offense never settled in. It was a solid team win with the majority of York House players getting in on the scoring.

Consolation Round, Game 6
John Oliver 58 – 43 Notre Dame

It was an exciting game between two equally matched teams. John Oliver took an early lead but Notre Dame was able to come back and cut their lead to 30-25 at half. Both teams battled in the paint, but John Oliver’s shooting helped them finish strong with a 58-43 win.

Churchill 46 – 43 Lord Byng

Great first half for both teams, keeping it tight 21-19 for Churchill to end the half. The second half picked up much intensity and pace as both teams traded points back and forth. Hard fought game till the last second as Churchill pull through 46 – 43 against Byng.

After a sluggish start, Britannia slowly pulls away against Kitsilano to end first have 30 – 18. Britannia dominates the second half and wins the game 71 – 44.
