2016 – Day 1 Game Summaries

JUNIOR GIRLS

First Round, Game 1
Lord Byng 56 – 19 St. Patrick’s

Lord Byng’s tenacious zone defense stymied St Pat’s attack.  The Grey Ghosts jumped out to an earlier lead as they scored in transition.  Later in the game, Byng’s hi-low attack lead to many easy baskets.  The Celtics had a lot of opportunities but did not finish.  Byng’s size took away second shots.  Lord Byng had a balanced attack with points from almost all their players.

– Mike Evans  (Game Director)

#12 Yvona Acimovic (Lord Byng)

First Round, Game 2

Chalk one up for Sir Charles Tupper as they came out on top in the Battle of the junior Tigers. York House was short with key injuries and Tupper got off to a quick start behind the play of #3 Anne Borromeo. Always ready to battle, York House applied some pressure and found their grove, although they were unable to cut the deficit significantly trailing 22-13 at half. The Tupper Tigers took over the game in the third as they pushed their lead up to 16 behind 8 points from Ashley Chow. The fourth quarter saw a good push from York House as they fought to get back in the game; however, Tupper had the poise and ability to finish strong, winning the game 41-25.
